This is a very rare type of enamel and silver pendant from Djerba
Island, Tunisia; I have only seen one other example in my many trips to
this country. It is called cotbat in Arabic and is loaded with
protective amulets called khamsas and beads of coral. Set with
red and green glass, it was made by Jewish silversmiths and measures
2.5” high plus 3.5” of dangling chain. It has been strung on
crown-knotted cord with an old red faceted glass bead at the closure.
The cord measures 16” in length. N367 $850
