An emphatic and haunting hand from the funerary traditions of the Bongo in Bahr-el-Ghazal in the south of Sudan, this example stands 12-1/4” high and is carved from dense red mahogany. This would have been placed on a pile of rocks to mark the grave of a hunter. Early to mid-20th century. #3124 $1900 |
