An unusual mask from the Yao people of Southern China, Vietnam and Laos. Worn by a shaman, it was danced or displayed during important ceremonies to frighten away evil spirits. It was covered in torn paper and nailed bits of fur and measures 15" in height. Early to mid-20th century. #2602 $1300 |
