A lustrous black-lipped kina shell is the centerpiece of this nassa
shell necklace from Collingwood Bay, Papua New Guinea. Braided and
wrapped fiber holds the nassa shells on the 12” choker with a knot and
loop closure. The kina shell measures 4-1/4” and is much older than the
stringing, which is often renewed when it is too worn. Unfortunately,
the rainbow colors on the front of the kina shell do not show up on the
photos. Early to mid-20th century. #2292 $300
