of Papua New Guinea. Called bagi, these necklaces were used for
bride price. This one has a beautifully curled boar’s tusk attached to a
string of spondylus shell discs. As a counterweight in the back, a white
ovula shell hangs with black seed pods and two iridescent pieces of
golden-lip kina shell. It measures 21” in length. Mid-20th century.
