This dramatic splash board was used at the front of a kula trading canoe in the Massim area of Papua New Guinea. It is gracefully carved and stands 38” high, with red paint and remnants of white lime. At the bottom is one of those eerie “head of Jesus” designs caused by natural weathering and decay.
