This graphic tapa cloth is from the Finisterre Mountains of Papua New
Guinea. It was worn folded over at the waist – see the photo below for
the folded view. The area of design measures 18” wide by 23” high and
overall the length of the piece is 71”. It has a wonderfully human,
necessary flaw: a drop of blood in the lower right quadrant. Early to
